Our scholarships are designed for students that are aspiring to greater artistic development. We support local students in summer camps or intensives in many different areas of the arts in different locations. Applications are available online in the Spring prior to the summer term for students to apply.
We are pleased to announce that we have awarded 23 scholarships to local area students for summer artistic training since 2015. We have invested almost $8,500.00 in scholarships to provide advanced arts training for local Kansas City area students.
Help us make a difference in the lives of students in our community. Every dollar donated goes directly to support tuition costs only for students to learn in their designated arts field through our Student INSPIRE Scholarships.
Glenne Harvell attended Kansas City Ballet's Summer Intensive. Glenne is a student at Blue Valley Southwest and studies dance at Crescendo Conservatory in Overland Park, Kansas. Glenne states, "These intensives give me opportunities to learn from amazing faculty and to improve many aspects of my dancing. A scholarship would help me pursue more intensives this summer, so I can continue to work hard, improve, soak up information, and develop relationships with different people in the dance world. This scholarship would be an amazing help to push towards my goal of joining a company someday."
Heidi Loubser used her scholarship to study at Inlet Dance Theatre's Summer Dance Intensive in Cleveland, Ohio. Heidi trains at The Culture House in Storling Dance Theatre's Artist Development Program. Heidi shares, "Thank you so much for awarding me a scholarship to attend Inlet Dance Theatre. I will be studying Hawkins technique, improvisation, and non-traditional partnering as well as engaging in collaborative choreographic processes. Thank you for helping bring this opportunity to reality in my life. I appreciate all of the effort you all put in to sustaining AIN Scholarships for students like me."
Kiley Price attended the American Ballet Theatre's Summer Dance Intensive in Irvine, California with her scholarship. She is a student at Blue Valley Northwest High School and studies dance at Crescendo Conservatory and is a current company member of Crescendo in Motion. She believes summer intensives are a wonderful way to grow and improve as an artist, student, and young adult as she pursues being a ballerina. "Thank you for the award of this generous scholarship. I determined that this intensive is ideal for my further technical development. This scholarship will help me to attain my goals in ballet: attending a top college for a double major in performance ballet and chemistry. I look forward to sharing my experiences and dancing at Illuminate the Arts later this year."
Jami Robben attended the EDGE Performing Arts Center's Summer Dance Intensive in Los Angeles, California. Jami is also our recipient of THE CLEO AWARD, in honor of Minnie Cleo Spiva Speak, a long term educator and arts lover. Jami trains at VidaDance in Leawood, Kansas, and was part of the performing base for AIN's "Illuminate the ARTS" Community Arts Performance in 2015. "This scholarship will help me immensely by allowing me to participate in conventions over the summer and further my training by exposing me to new teachers and experiences. I'm extremely excited for what's to come and I'm ready to take my desire to grow within myself with me to where ever I may go this summer." We hope this intensive is a great experience for Jami and will assist her in her educational and artistic goals going forward in dance.
